Born in Tucson, Arizona, in 1993, making her 32 years old and deeply allergic to irony. Her father, Jeffrey Loomer, is an American rheumatologist. Her mother, Joanna Hill, is a British nurse who was, wait for it, not a U.S. citizen when Laura was born. She was reportedly in the country on a tourist visa when she met Loomer’s dad, and she still hadn’t naturalized at the time of the birth.
Which means the exact form of birthright citizenship that Loomer froths at the mouth about banning is the sole reason she exists as an American citizen at all. The very policy she wants to torch is the one that let her grow up here, run for Congress, and spend her adult life vomiting hate into a microphone.
She is, definitionally, the anchor baby she screams about.
Laura Loomer owes her entire political existence to the immigration system she now wants to dynamite out of spite and racial paranoia. And honestly, I’d prefer not to give this deranged, chronically unsuccessful congressional candidate any more oxygen than she already sucks up.
But when she has the ear of the president, and, according to many people in Washington, likely his cock in her mouth, while exerting real influence in far-right policy circles, this stops being a sideshow.
At that point, calling out the hypocrisy isn’t optional.
It’s fucking necessary.
