I love when films aren’t as simple as they appear at face value.
When you watch the trailer for Ryan Coogler’s ‘Sinners’, it appears like a simple vampire story, set in the post Depression Era, in the deep American South.
And technically, that it was it is.
But it’s much more.
Set in Mississippi in 1932, ‘Sinners’ tells the tale of two twin brothers ‘Smoke’ and ‘Stack’ who’ve just returned to the Delta after spending years away in Chicago, working in the atmosphere of a city dominated by Al Capone.
With large amounts of cash in hand, the brothers purchase an old saw mill, in order to turn it into a Juke Joint, where they’ll be supplying copious amounts of Irish Beer, Italian Wine, Corn Whiskey, and all the Blues music the Mississippi Delta has to offer.
Just don’t worry about how they acquired all these things.
