Raise voices. Rattle cages. Do good.

“This happens when people don’t take their vote seriously.”

These words underscore a growing concern: the shift towards authoritarianism. The current political climate is dominated by a leader who openly defies Supreme Court rulings and restricts press access. This isn’t typical politics; it’s a dangerous erosion of democratic norms.

With Congress controlled by the GOP, accountability from Capitol Hill is unlikely. However, there are still avenues for recourse. The courts retain the power to hold the administration in contempt. Courageous journalists can pursue legal action. Blue states can challenge unconstitutional executive orders through lawsuits and continued resistance.

Most importantly, citizens must actively participate in protecting democracy. This includes protesting, exposing abuses of power, and, crucially, voting. It is imperative to vote as if democracy depends on it, because it does.

The Donald’s actions demonstrate a belief he’s above the law. It’s up to the people to reaffirm that no one is. Since House and Senate Republicans are unwilling to hold the executive branch accountable, voters must change the balance of power in the midterm elections.

Until then, the fight for democracy will continue. The resistance will take shape in state legislatures, courtrooms, and news headlines nationwide.
